About Simply Revella
Singing has always played an important part in my life. From the age of 8 years old ,I sang around the house with my dad and mom. While attending Union Baptist Church as a child my mother taught Sunday School and summer programs, we sang in the Sun bean Choir. My father sent me to learn music from a teacher (Mrs. Vinnie Jones) who taught me how to sing acapella at the age of 12. At the time I felt that he was being hard on me, but now I know it was for my good. During my last year of High School I sang for the Dekalb County board of Education Superintendants. At that time Mahalia Jackson was my inspiration. I sang six Negro Spirituals. From that point I wanted to be a Gospel or Classical singer. My mother Ozelyer Kilgore was my prayer partner and encourager. She would always say, “ When you sing, always let God use you and push self out of the way." |
